Members of the Tajik organization Zanon Dar Kuhhoi Pomir Furough Shakarmamadova
I have a Master’s degree in Hotel and Tourism Management from Khorog State University and trained as a tour guide at the University of Central Asia (UCA). I also conducted research on tourism in the Pamirs and presented my results at the Free University of Berlin (FUB) in Germany. In 2015, along with Christine Oriol, I started exploring the Pamir mountains and guiding tourists on trekking tours.
That same year, I traveled to Kyrgyzstan to profit from their experience in fair tourism, and in the following year, I traveled to observe touristic practices in the United States. In 2017, I participated in the clean-up of the K2 base camp in Pakistan and a climate change awareness campaign for local people and tourists.
My hope is to see Women Rockin’ Parmirs to grow and evolve in the coming years. I am confident that, through our work, we will attract more young women to our project and that together we can strengthen the organization.
